#25.43 - Variants in the Air, Winter in the Air

Happy Friday from chilly Iceland! It’s week 43 already, and as I write this, the days are getting noticeably shorter — winter is definitely creeping in, and I’m not quite sure how I feel about that. But while the sun sets early outside, Itsy’s development has been glowing with activity these past two weeks.

The big focus this cycle has been product variants — a major step toward making Itsy’s product structure more flexible and realistic. Think hotels with different room types, cars with various classes, or flights with multiple seat options. This system isn’t live just yet, but the groundwork is solidly in place, and I’m really excited about what it’ll unlock for travel agencies in the coming releases. It’ll mean more accurate pricing, better product management, and a smoother booking experience for travelers.

Meanwhile, product sorting in trips has made its triumphant return! This time, it’s not tucked away in a separate component but fully integrated into the main product list. It’s a small change with a big impact — streamlining workflows and giving users a clearer, more intuitive way to organize their trip content.

Behind the scenes, I’ve also been doing a good bit of spring cleaning (or maybe autumn cleaning is more accurate). I went through the codebase updating components, trimming unused pieces, and making sure everything runs a little smoother and cleaner under the hood. It’s the kind of work that doesn’t make headlines but always pays off later.

As we slide into the colder months, I’m keeping the momentum going and getting ready for the big product variant release coming soon. Thanks, as always, for following along — stay warm, wherever you are, and see you in the next update!
